things to think on

i ran across this quote from my aunt, i love it..

"And I agree with your concerns and the dilemmas of being a woman in the world when you yourself need the world to be a woman to you."

This left me thinking about my own feelings regarding mothering and needing a mother. I often feel in desperate need of nurturing that I might continue to do the work of nurturing others. It's a lonely, small feeling at times. There's a section in the novel I was writing last November about this thing. It's a little long to put in a comment, though, so I'll put it in its own post.

I also remembered Lyz talking about how everyone has the capacity to be their own mother and what this means in relation. I think it's true that we all have the strength within ourselves to see ourselves through even the roughest times, to tell ourselves that we are powerful and wonderful, and to soothe ourselves. I also think that it's incredibly difficult and perhaps not the ideal method of coping in the world. Which is why we join together in sisterhood...
